During the hot summer months or the cold winter days we always reach for the AC remote in hopes for even the slightest bit of release from the unforgiving weather. But sometimes when we hit that button to turn on the AC the relieve never came. Due to one issue or another the AC is not working as well as it could and only sending room temperature wind or the air is very weak.
There are several reasons as to why this could happen.
1. Dirty Air Filters
The easiest and also most common issue is dirty air filters. The way to solve this is quite easy, just wash the filters with water and leave to dry until completely dry. Try not to use the filters while its still wet since it may cause issues with the internal component of the AC.
2. AC Refrigerant Leak
Your AC cools or heat air by utilizing what how certain chemicals reacts at different temperature at a pressurized condition. Most of the time these chemicals exist in a gaseous state. This means that it may escape from the pipes and container over time. But if the change in effectiveness of the AC happens suddenly there might be an issue with the components and the gasses might have leaked. In this case please stop using the AC and call a technician immediately since some of the chemical might have adverse effect if it was inhaled. Even if there is no issue and you just need to top up the refrigerant you will still need to get a professional to do it safely.
3.Issues With The Outdoor Unit
Most commonly the issue with the outdoor unit is related with airflow caused by objects around it. Whether it is a cardbox that is inhibiting air flow or leaves getting stuck around the unit. These will cause issue witht the air intake and outake of the outdoor unit so try to clear any objects from the vicinity of the unit.
If there are no changes even after cleaning your AC and the outside unit, it is best to contact your room management or a professional since a broken AC could be dangerous.
